EM-final för unga kulturforskare (och jag är med)

Tobias Tobias

Idag gratulerade jag mig själv. Det kom ett brev från Bryssel, närmare bestämt European Cultural Foundation och ENCATC, med något roligt:

We are pleased to inform you that you successfully pass the first selection phase of the Cultural Policy Research Award procedure. Other 5 young European researchers were selected by the CPRA Jury as finalists during this first phase.

In order to allow the CPRA jury to choose the CPRA winner 2009 we invite you to present your research at the occasion of the 3rd Forum of young Cultural Policy Researchers organized this year in Barcelona next 21 October 2009.

Det här är en uppmuntran för tidigare arbete, men innebär också finansiering för fortsatt forskning. Mitt förslag är:

The most cultural or creative regions in Europe? Picking the right definition for policy-making

All around Europe, concerted efforts are being put into the cultural and creative industries. However, what is understood by these concepts varies. This implies confusion with regard to both policies and statistics. It also implies some confusion about how policies to support these industries balance with cultural policy and other policies.

The study will compare more than 250 regions in Europe. What regions excel in different aspects and are these regions concentrated to certain parts of Europe? What can we learn from successful regions, policy-wise? What definition is the most useful one for tailoring policies?
